Reminder for CotL #53 (Best-of Edition)

Just a friendly reminder that Carnival of the Liberals #53 is coming up Wednesday, December 5th, 2007. This is the first edition of our third year! As such it's our annual best-of edition. Here's how it works:

  • If you've appeared in Carnival of the Liberals this past year, just send me what you think is your absolute best post of 2007 (actually it's December 2006 - November 2007). That's all you've got to do!
  • Be sure to send it my way (via the fine folks at blogcarnival.com -- link below) by Monday night, December 3rd at 11:59PM EST though. I'll choose the ten best out of those submitted for inclusion in CotL #53 at Neural Gourmet. Everyone else gets linked from the CotL homepage.

One quick administrative note: I'll be upgrading the CotL site sometime in the next few days so there could be an indeterminate period of downtime for the site. The blogcarnival.com submission link will be working throughout though.

CotL #52 reminder (special church-state separation edition)

Yikes! Carnival of the Liberals #52 is almost here, or there as it were. There being Yikes! of course, this Wednesday, November 21st. In honor of Americans United For Separation of Church and State's 60th anniversary we're trying to make this a church-state separation themed carnival. So if you have anything you've written recently related to the separation of church and state, feel free to send it along. If you haven't, then there's still time because the deadline isn't until Monday, November 19th at 11:59PM. As always, blogcarnival.com does the job.

The end times are upon us!

That's right, time is almost at an end to send in your submissions for Carnival of the Liberals #43. Our one and ever only 43rd edition will be held this coming Wednesday, July 18th, over at Stumplane courtesy of our friend Montag who promises us to do another rhyming edition of Carnival of the Liberals. Ooo... And so many interesting names in the news to rhyme this time too ("A senator from LA named Vitter...").

Thanks to everyone who's sent in their entries already (except for our loon, I mean, lone right winger) and the rest of you have until noon tomorrow EDT (Tue., July 17th). The blogcarnival.com form is your friend.

Last call for Carnival of the Liberals #42

We're down to the final 24 hours to get your submissions in for Carnival of the Liberals #42. Zaius Nation will be hosting this special July 4th edition of Carnival of the Liberals and he has a specific theme in mind -- defining patriotism -- so check out Dr. Zaius' post for all the details, but be sure to send in your submissions by 11:59PM on Monday, July 2nd via the blogcarnival.com form.

Continuing the patriotic theme, BlueGal & Co. have the Independence Day weekend Blog Against Theocracy going full tilt. Show your support for our first freedom by writing about how separation of church and state is patriotic. BlueGal's got the scoop at the BAT blog. Remember, BAT is about atheists and theists working together to support a Constitutional right that benefits everyone. Also, this time around there's an automated system in place to get your BAT posts linked on the front page of the Blog Against Theocracy blog. Details are here.

Finally, we still have plenty of hosting spots open this year. Why not volunteer by sending me an e-mail with your preferred date? Check the schedule for open slots.

CotL #41 reminder, BAT and a new site!

The next edition of Carnival of the Liberals will be upon us soon and the deadline for submissions will be here ever quicker. CotL #41 is at World Wide Webers this Wednesday, June 20th but you need to get your best liberal blogging to Karl Weber by midnight Eastern, Monday, June 18th. As always, thanks to everyone who has sent in their posts so far and for the rest, blogcarnival.com is your friend.

Don't forget that Zaius Nation will be hosting the July 4th edition of Carnival of the Liberals and he has a specific theme in mind -- defining patriotism -- so check out Dr. Zaius' post for all the details.

Continuing the patriotic theme, BlueGal & Co. will be doing another round of Blog Against Theocracy this Independence Day weekend too! Show your support for our first freedom by writing about how separation of church and state is patriotic. BlueGal's got the scoop at the BAT blog. Remember, BAT is about atheists and theists working together to support a Constitutional right that benefits everyone.

On a slightly off-topic note, Susan R. from Miss ELISA's World writes to let us know she's started a new site, Eureka Science, devoted to be a Q&A forum to "inform and educate the public about science without the distortion of the media or politics". The site's brand new but I think it's a great idea and we certainly wish her the best with this endeavour.

Finally, we still have plenty of hosting spots open this year. Why not volunteer by sending me an e-mail with your preferred date? Check the schedule for open slots.

Carnival of the Liberals #40 submissions reminder

Just a friendly shout-out reminding everyone that the next edition of Carnival of the Liberals will be this coming Wednesday, June 6th over at And Doctor Biobrain's Response Is... Unfortunately, Dr. Biobrain has decided to shirk his hosting duties once again and left the whole affair up to the incompetent machinations of his moronic conservative assistant Dr. Snedley. Typical! So I must say, I thank all of you who have sent in submissions so far, and I do encourage everyone to continue sending in their submissions before the 11:59PM EST Monday deadline, but I fear that CotL #40 will go as badly as the last time Dr. Biobrain hosted. Well, make of it what you can.

Also, we have a heads up for next month. Zaius Nation will be hosting the July 4th edition of Carnival of the Liberals and he has a specific theme in mind -- defining patriotism -- so check out Dr. Zaius' post for all the details.

Finally, for those of you who aren't used to my long-winded screeds you can read an interview with me over at Pollyticks.com. I share some of my thoughts on blog carnivals, blogging and more. Pollyticks.com hosted CotL #31 back on January 31st of this year. Which reminds me... We still have plenty of hosting spots open this year. Why not volunteer by sending me an e-mail with your preferred date? Check the schedule for open slots.

Carnival of the Liberals #38 is coming

Yet another in our series of semi-irregular notes that the time to get your submissions in for the next Carnival of the Liberals is upon us. We've had a bit of a change-up in the program. Bora from A Blog Around The Clock was supposed to be hosting next week, May 9th but some last minute travel plans have forced him to reschedule. Fortunately Faith at That Is So Queer... who had the May 23rd slot was able to step in on short notice thus Bora and Faith have simply swapped dates.

Thanks in advance to the handful of you who've already sent in your submissions. As for the rest of you slackers, you know what you need to do! Check out Faith's call for submissions and then get your best liberal blogging to us by 11:59PM EST on Monday, May 7th.

CotL #36 reminder

You know I love it when you all send in stuff for Carnival of the Liberals without me even asking. Quite a few of you have already sent in your posts this time around and to all of you I say thanks. For those of you who've been waiting for a formal invite, this is it. Next CotL is being hosted by Little Miss Know It All at Truth In Politics on Wednesday, April 11th. The deadline is tomorrow, April 10th at 10AM EDT so if you've been holding out on us, now's your chance to come clean with your submission for the only (are we still the only one?) liberal blog carnival out there.

Next up, I've got to say we're just dying, just dying I'm telling ya, for hosts. What's the big freaking deal gang? This blog carnival has become a huge success based on two things:

  1. The consistently high quality of the posts being sent in and featured every bi-week and...
  2. The fantastic job our hosts have done to make each and every edition of CotL beautifully presented and full of fantastic reading

If we take drop the ball on either of those two things however this blog carnival falls flat on its' face. Come on, we need you to step up to the plate and host CotL. We've got hosting slots open from May 23rd straight through to November 7th plus December 19th too. Sure, I can keep going back to the old-timers and asking them to host again, but by continuously getting new faces to host we keep this thing minty fresh. So yeah, be a mensch and shoot me an e-mail with the date you want to host. You can get the open dates by going to the CotL site, clicking on 'schedule' and then clicking the future hosts tab in the blogcarnival.com widget.

'Sides, you've got another reason to volunteer to host. It'll mean shorter posts from me.

Send us your liberal best for CotL 35

Sorry to be so bitchy in the subject line, but seriously folks, don't make me beg! Carnival of the Liberals #35 will be next week, Wednesday, March 28th and James Trumm at Framed needs your posts by 11:59PM Eastern time on Monday, March 27th. As always, send us your liberal best via blogcarnival.com, e-mail or carrier pigeon.

The Ides of Paul fast approach

Carnival of the Liberals #34 will be here sooner than you think which begs the question, "Why are you waiting to send in your submission?" Paul -V- is hosting this time around at Brainshrub on Wednesday, March 14th and he's got the details for you, including the rather ambiguous fact that this edition of Carnival of the Liberals will feature an Ides of March theme. Hmm... I wonder what he's got in mind? Anyhow, and as always, use the blogcarnival.com form to send us your best. Deadline is Monday, March 12th at 11:59PM.

|

Valentine's Day and Cotl #32 fast approaching

Just a friendly reminder that Carnival of the Liberals #32 is right around the corner. #32 is at The Greenbelt this Valentine's Day. We've already had a nice smattering of submissions but just in case you've been putting it off, Karen has posted her call for submissions and operators are standing by awaiting your call. Well, maybe not operators but our submission form at blogcarnival.com is always there for you. Deadline is 8PM EST on Tuesday, February 13th. We received over 50 submissions last time, our most ever, so let's see if we can't set a new record.

Reminder for CotL 31 submissions

Have I told you lately that you all are just fantastic? No? Well, I don't know why not because for the third straight edition of Carnival of the Liberals in a row the whole thing has came together without any intervention from yours truly.

We've already received a good number of excellent submissions but just in case you were waiting till the last minute, that would be 11:59PM tomorrow (Tue., Jan. 30). Carnival of the Liberals #31 is being hosted by Blue Steel this Wednesday, January 31 over at Pollyticks.com. So if you've any last minute flashes of genius, shoot them our way via the blogcarnival.com submission form.
